Learn about the dirty, destructive, dangerous life-cycles of coal, natural gas, and nuclear energy.
Stand in solidarity with the communities in Virginia, West Virginia, SW Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee facing the ongoing destruction of coal mining, hydraulic fracturing, and nuclear energy!
See mountaintop removal coal mining and natural gas extraction via hydraulic fracturing up close!
Take direct action to end the reign of King Coal, Count Frack, and Viceroy Uranium!
Mountain Justice Spring Break (MJSB) will bring together residents of extraction communities, college students, environmentalists and concerned citizens who are interested in learning more about mountaintop removal coal mining, fracking, and the dangers of nuclear energy. We will engage in strategy sessions to move forward with our collective efforts to transition away from these dirty forms of energy extraction.
From March 10 - 17, 2013 MJSB will be in central West Virginia.
From March 1 - 10 there will be a separate MJSB in the town of Appalachia, Virginia.

We will spend a week in West Virginia cultivating the skills and visions needed to build a sustainable energy future in Appalachia. Through education, community service, speakers, hiking, music, poetry, direct action and more, you will learn from and stand with Appalachian communities in the struggle to maintain our land and culture. Mountain Justice Spring Break will also offer a variety of community service projects. To see the schedule for the week, go to the Agenda tab.
MJSB will be held at a gorgeous 57 acre county park in rural West Virginia. The Doddridge County Park is surrounded by wooded hills and a winding mountain creek. The park is easy to find and convenient to Interstates 77 and 79. It is located on Snowbird Rd. off of US Route 50, 3 miles from a small town, West Union, WV. There is an 80-mile long rail trail called the North Bend Trail that goes through West Union.
Doddridge County is currently under seige from fracking companies, and US 50 is heavily used by fracking equipment trucks.
Please pre-register so that we can order enough food and accomodate everyone's food preferences. You can pay at the gate or pay in advance. We'll see you there!
